The 2013 County Health Rankings were released March 20 and show a vast difference in the quality of health across Northeast Florida’s counties.
The region is home to the healthiest county, St. Johns County, and one of the unhealthiest, Baker. The remaining counties fall somewhere in between.
Overall Rankings (out of 67 counties)
- St. Johns County: #1
- Clay County: #7
- Nassau County: #29
- Duval County: #47
- Baker County #62
The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation have released the rankings for four years now. They take into account factors like premature death and low birth weight babies, in addition to health behaviors, socioeconomic factors and physical environment.
The Northeast Florida counties each have remained basically the same over the past few years that the rankings have been released, only moving up or down a few places.
