Healthy Start Coalition Board of Directors Chair Stephen Baker, Ph.D., was featured as a local mover and shaker in health care in the June 2013 edition of 904 Magazine.

The magazine features the “40 Most Influential People in Jax Health Care.” Dr. Baker oversees the Coalition’s activities and heads the 19-member board and 40+ Coalition membership. He served as Vice-Chair in 2011-2012 before becoming Chair in January 2013.

Dr. Baker was a political science professor at Jacksonville University for 28 years before retiring this spring.

“[The Coalition’s] overall goal is the reduction of the state’s high infant mortality and improvement of the lives of pregnant women and their families. Lofty goal, for sure. And darn admirable. Overseeing the Coalition activities is its board and chairman Stephen Baker, Ph.D., a teacher by trade who recently retired after more than two decades at JU.”
