AMCHP hosting father involvement webinar

The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are hosting a webinar, “Strategies for Increasing Father Involvement” on September 17, 2012 from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm ET.

  • A presentation from Brian Gullins of the Richmond (VA) Health District on analyzing the costs of father absence to make the case for fatherhood programming
  • Diana Mason from the Connecticut Department of Social Services will share lessons learned from The Fatherhood Initiative of Connecticut.

The webinar will be accompanied by the release of an updated AMCHP Issue Brief: Father Involvement.

Webinar on “Healthy Weight in Women Across the Lifespan”

The Office on Women’s Health (OWH) is hosting a free webinar on “Why is obesity different in women across the lifespan and how does that impact prevention and treatment?” The 90-minute webinar will be August 9 at 2pm.

The webinar will address prevention and treatment and differences in different age categories: pre-teen, 18-55, 55 and older. Questions will be taken at the conclusion of the webinar.

Speakers include: Christine Ferguson, J.D., Professor, School of Public Health and Health Services, George Washington University; Carrie Dooyema M.S.N., M.P.H., R.N.

Behavioral Scientist, Obesity Prevention and Control Branch, CDC Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity.
