Florida March of Dimes offers grant opportunities

The March of Dimes — Florida Chapter has a several funding opportunities available to community organizations, hospitals, military health facilities and health agencies in Florida.

Community Awards for 2012 may be for amounts up to $3,000 and address one of the March’s 2012 Funding Priority Areas.

The application, which is available here, is due on September 16, 2011 by 4:00 p.m.

CenteringPregnancy® grants are also available. Grants may be for amounts up to $15,000 per year for up to two years

In 2011, one of the ways the March of Dimes seeks to improve birth outcomes is through increased prenatal care utilization and improvement of the quality of prenatal education for pregnant women in Florida through CenteringPregnancy® projects.

CenteringPregnancy® is a group prenatal care model usually consisting of 8 to 12 women who are all due the same month. The sessions are designed to last two hours with the first 30 minutes being used for assessment and the remaining time for education.
