In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week August 1-7, the Northeast Florida Lactation Coalition will be hosting a Big Latch On event in Jacksonville August 3 at Sailors and Sparrows, 1823 N. Pearl St. Join other women in the community as you breastfeed your baby to raise awareness for breastfeeding support.

The Big Latch On takes place worldwide. During the event groups of women come together and breastfeed their babies at the same time at a registered location. The goal of the event is to encourage a community to accept and support breastfeeding mothers.

Breastfeeding is the most natural way a mother can nurture a child. There are numerous health benefits a child receives from a mother’s breast milk, including the antibodies and hormones it needs to fight off illness.

The Big Latch On in Jacksonville begins at 10 a.m. There will be a raffle for prizes and proceeds from the event will benefit the local La Leche League. For more information call 904-800-2278 or email info@sailorsandsparrows.com
