Orange Park Health Fair to offer health tips for families, insurance enrollment for children

Residents of Orange Park and the surrounding areas are invited to attend the 4th annual Orange Park Adult Medicine Community Health Fair, this Saturday, March 17th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Town Hall Park on the corner of Kingsley and U.S. 17.

Co-sponsored by the Coalition’s Florida KidCare program and Haven Hospice, the family-friendly event aims to promote healthy lifestyles, educate the community about a range of health disorders, and provide information about available resources in Clay County. Family members can visit informational booths, take part in free health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, vision, hearing, skin cancer, nutrition and physical fitness, and enjoy free food, door prizes, music and entertainment, and a bounce house.

Representatives from the Coaltion’s Florida KidCare program will be on-hand to help parents enroll their children in Medicaid and Florida KidCare, low-cost health insurance options for Florida’s Children. Almost 20 percent of children in the region 18 and under are uninsured, impeding families’ ability to provide well care and disease management for their chidlren. More than half of these children are potentially eligible for free or low-cost coverage.
