Youth bike helmets, child restraint systems and booster seats exempt from sales tax

Youth bicycle helmets, child restraint systems for vehicles and booster seats are exempt from sales tax in Florida beginning July 1, according to the state Department of Revenue.

To qualify:

  • Bike helmets must indicate on packaging that they are for use by youth.
  • Booster seats and restraint systems are exempt, however option components or accessories are still subject to tax.
