Seeking Safety is an initiative developed to assist mothers who have experienced substance use. Nurse home visitors provide a host of services and resource assistance for expecting mothers and mothers of children up to one year of age living in Duval County.
Seeking Safety is funded through a Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) grant and is sponsored by Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition, the Florida Association of Healthy Start Coalitions and the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families.
Moms enrolled in the program receive one-on-one home visits from a registered nurse that help improve the overall quality of life for both mother and child. The home visitors also connect families to resources for housing, utilities, legal aid, counseling, baby supplies, job assistance and other local community resources.
