More than 85 staff and board members from local child-serving agencies as well as local child advocates learned new strategies and information on child health in preparation for the state legislative session at the 2013 Advocacy Training.
The 5th annual training was held Friday, February 22 at the Jacksonville Marriott Hotel. It was presented by the Healthy Start Coalition and Jacksonville Kids Coalition in partnership from the Early Learning Coalition of Duval, United Way and the Players Center for Child Health.
This training is held each year just prior to legislative session and aims to educate attendees on advocacy basics and equip them with strategies and tactics to advocate on behalf of children.
Joe Theissen, Senior Vice President of Programs at Voices for American Children in Washington, D.C, was the keynote speaker and presented on “Tools for Political Engagement,” sponsored by the Chartrand Foundation.
