The annual Northeast Florida Fetal and Infant Mortality Review findings and recommendations will be released at the October 17 Coalition meeting.
FIMR aims to reduce infant mortality by gathering and reviewing detailed information to gain a better understanding of fetal and infant deaths in Northeast Florida. The fetal and infant death rates, causes and contributing factors are reviewed at the meeting.
The Community Action Team, which works to implement the FIMR recommendations, will also provide an update.
The 2012 FIMR recommendations include continued safe sleep education; a focus on safe sex, STDs and family planning; and bringing attention to the dangers of smoking during pregnancy.
