AmeriCorps week is upon us! Celebrated March 13-19, AmeriCorps week recognizes the millions of AmeriCorps members and their service across the nation.

Meet Milan Brooks aka Milly. Milly is an alumni who served with the National Health Corps Florida AmeriCorps program during the 2019-2020 service term. She served with Barnabas Health Services in Fernandina Beach as a care coordinator, where she helped patients understand every aspect of care they were receiving by going through their treatment plan and answering any questions. She also provided patients with helpful resources to help assist them better with their overall health. While serving at Barnabas Health services, Milly found her most rewarding experience was understanding what it really meant to serve people. She loved the hands-on experience she was able to gain exposing her to a new environment she wasn’t used to.

Since completing her term of service, Milly now works for Sulzbacher medical clinic where she serves as a medical assistant. She was able to train and work her way up to where she now spearheads a mobile health bus working as the lead MA along with serving patients within the clinic.
