Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday, April 27 to walk with the Healthy Start Coalition for the 2013 First Coast March for Babies! More than 30 Coalition staff, Preconception Peer Educators and 4Me Teen Health Project facilitators, teen participants and parents walked the 1.5 mile route at Everbank Field in honor of Northeast Florida babies.
Our team raised over $600 for the March of Dimes, which will support research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. Donations are still accepted at our team page.
The March of Dimes supports many of the Coalition’s community-based programs such as the Camellia Project, funds the statewide 39 Weeks initiative and provides other support and educational materials to the Coalition.
This year, Teen Leaders from the 4Me Teen Health Project were invited to take part in the event. Teens from Southwind Villas/The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Kendall Court Apartments and Ryan Oaks Apartments came out in their 4Me/BrdsNBz t-shirts. Two parents and several facilitators also participated.
Thank you to everyone who took part and we hope to see you next year!
